Sonia Baxendale

Sonia Baxendale is President and CEO of the Global Risk Institute, where she brings together leaders from industry, academia and government to focus on emerging risk issues. She has extensive experience as an executive and non-executive in financial services globally. She is an active corporate director, sitting on the boards of Laurentian Bank, Definity Financial and Intermediate Capital Group, and is past Chair of the SickKids Foundation board. Before joining GRI she held senior roles at CIBC, including Senior Executive Vice President and President of CIBC Retail Markets, leading its retail, commercial banking and wealth management businesses.
