Eric Burns

Eric Burns is Field CTO for Enterprise at Anthropic, where he works with leaders in regulated industries to close the gap between what AI can do in theory and what it delivers in practice. He partners with executives in financial services, healthcare, and other highly governed sectors to move frontier models out of the pilot phase and into production — safely, at scale, and in ways that show up on the bottom line.

Before joining Anthropic in 2024, Eric co-founded Panopto, the Carnegie Mellon spin-off that became the video library of record for higher education and top-tier enterprises worldwide. Over more than a decade he helped grow the company from a university research project into a global platform before its acquisition in 2022. Earlier, he worked on an early version of Bing at Microsoft and spent five years at Carnegie Mellon building digital library and instructional video systems.

Eric holds degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from Carnegie Mellon University and is based in Seattle.
